This fiction story is a great book for the mystery loving fifth grader I recently read this book and thought it would be a wonderful SSR book for students to read I think this book can also be a good candidate for a prediction story Students can keep a log of who they feel is the thief I think this story keeps the student reading and engaged I like that this chapter book has very short chapters I think shorter chapters keeps the students interested In this particular story, the author keeps the student questioning at the end of each chapter This is not an extremely long chapter book, so students could get through it within a week or two The first kids mysteries is a wonderful series to have in the classroom library What I did not like about the chapter book was that the ending was very brief I would have liked to seen what happened to the children and if they learned from their actions This chapter book is very descriptive The characters are very detailed and the reader is able to develop a since of what they character would look like I also think that this book would be a good choice to sequence events in a story I would recommend this book.

Fun mystery tale that is part of First Kids Mystery Series Two girls live in the White House with their mother who is the president of the United States In this book, Tessa, thinks she has found the perfect place to hide her piggy bank It disappears and she thinks it has been stolen Can there really be a thief in the White House The girls have their dog, Hooligan help in the search and this leads to some very funny situations This text is best read to first and second graders as the story would appeal to them but the font is somewhat small and might be difficult for most to read on their own Third and fourth graders would have fun reading on their own.Good, simple, and entertaining way to introduce mystery genre to younger readers It is also a good look at savings for students who are young.

I m sorry, but this book simply failed to totally capture my attention The premise was good two girls living in the White House, whose mother is president And this is the 4th book in the series However, the writing, while competent, is stilted and the story fails to flow The author puts in lots of nonfiction information, obviously intending to inform as well as entertain, but the story drags One of the girls is missing her piggy bank Holes are being dug in the White House lawn Is there gold treasure buried there What s going on with the dog How did the bird get loose Readers learn a little about the White House, and about coin collecting The final answer to the mysteries, however, is not very exciting Too bad.

Genre MysteryGrade Level Intermediate I chose this book as one of my favorites because it had the ability to make you feel as if you were really there as well making you imagine what it would be like to be in the characters shoes This book was all about the children of the President of the United States The children were on a mission to find the missing piggy bank that Tessa had hidden for safe keeping This is all about their adventures to finding the piggy bank I would use this book within my classroom to have the students use the strategy of predicting There are many places in the book for students to predict different things.
