I m older than the Mets my father had been a Giants fan and my mother a Dodger fan When the Mets came into being there was no way they d have let me become a fan of the other team with the funny NY on their caps Reading this book was an absolute delight, reliving so many fond memories, and so many painful ones I could place where I was at specific moments in my own life and how the Mets fit in Unfortunately with books of this type once they are printed, the stats contained are set I know many of them have changed, though I couldn t tell by how much And so many great, and horrific, moments since publication are not included But knowing there are others who bleed and ache as I do makes the anticipation of a new Mets season even special.

Although I can t imagine anyone but a diehard Mets fan enjoying this book, it fills its niche well Beyond a quibble about the title the majority of the 100 items listed in this book are things to know with only a few things to do thrown in , I thoroughly savored this book and all of the nostalgia it conjured for me from Tom Terrific to Doc to HoJo, Straw, Mookie, Nails, and of course the quintessential moment in Mets history Game 6 of the 1986 World Series The author himself is a devout fan, and the book is sprinkled with trivia and the recollections of other fans This is pure delight for the Metropolitan faithful.

This book took a lot longer than expected but it was a good book to read better for those fanatics though a good read for during the off season.
